UCC participates in Hope Awakens online event

April 17, 2020

Series offers unique approach to evangelism during COVID crisis

More than 18 pastors and 28 churches in the Upper Columbia Conference (UCC) are participating in the month-long Revelation Today: Hope Awakens online event that begins on April 17. The series is hosted by It Is Written and features speaker/director John Bradshaw.

After a call for volunteers and assistance from churches across the North American Division, UCC answered in a big way. In addition to the 18 pastors and 28 churches, Jeremy McCombs, UCC director of church ministries, is supporting the Bible workers and Eric Brown, UCC director of pastoral ministries, is overseeing the financial support.

Churches across the United States are helping to promote the event, contact individuals that have taken part in the series and help monitor social media channels. The series is groundbreaking in that it relies on local churches to help make connections with individuals, rather than trying to contact individuals from a central location. This allows for local churches to develop relationships with individuals in their community that have shown interest.

“The Upper Columbia Conference heard what It Is Written is doing with Hope Awakens and saw the potential to reach people in a unique way,” says Brown. “The UCC Administration immediately made funding available to partner with any church that wanted to participate. We have had a number of churches apply for financial partnership and anticipate more requests as the meetings begin. We will be able to meet all financial requests with the funds we have available for evangelism.”

The month-long Hope Awakens series begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 17 and will be livestreamed in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language from Collegedale, Tennessee. For more information, see www.itiswritten.com/hopeawakens.
