So, you’re an elder, now what? Of all the roles within the body of Christ, an Elder is one of the most visible and least understood among them. Pastors “pastor”, Teachers “teach”, do Elders “eld”? We’re here to help.
The Upper Columbia Conference ministerial department is called to empower and equip elders to the task of spiritual leadership in the local church. We have a clear ministry description for your role in the church, training to understand it, and resources to help you serve the church effectively.
It is our goal to help Elders, “…daily be connected with God,
drawing their supplies from His exhaustless storehouse
and bringing there from things new and old.”
– Ellen White
Serving as an Elder is both a privilege and a significant responsibility as you work alongside your pastor to provide spiritual care and leadership for your local church. You are invited to take some time apart from the business of leading the church to do what Steven Covey called "sharpening the saw." Set in the beauty of Camp Mivoden you'll have the chance to recalibrate, rest, and plan together with your fellow elders and your pastor.
