Topics

The Heart of the Lion

By Heather Thompson Day

What does it mean to be a Christian? What is at the center of the gospel? What is the story arc or Scripture? Heather believes once you understand the theme in Scripture of the King pursuing his Kingdom, and the methods that King uses in his pursuit of his Kingdom, it changes how you see yourself within the story.

The Bible is Offensive

By Heather Thompson Day

Scripture is filled with controversial language. Is the Bible still relevant for us today? In this talk we will look at two specific examples in the writings of Paul in the book of Colossians and Philemon that highlight why navigating Scripture should always be done in patience, grace, and humility. We should ask more questions, not less.

Power Move

By Heather Thompson Day

One of the greatest controversies of the gospel, is that it is filled with controversial witnesses. From Hebrew slaves, to the woman at the well, to the first witness of the resurrection being a woman who originally had 7 demons, it seems the gospel chooses witnesses that no one else would. In a cultural context that largely ignores women, Jesus goes to great lengths to include them. One such controversial witness to the Christ, is found in John chapter 8.

The Scary-Wonderful: Saying “Yes” to Adventures with Jesus

By Michele Davis

We are all offered an apprenticeship with Jesus, learning to go where he leads and do what he asks. Sometimes those promptings can be out of our comfort zone, but just on the other side is a wonderful taste of the abundant life! Join Michele as she recounts some of the experiences she has had serving in India learning to say “Yes” to the adventures Jesus has in store.

Breakout Sessions

Breakout for Young Women: I Did It on Purpose

By Heather Thompson Day

Everyone wants to live a life of purpose, but what does that actually look like? What are we supposed to be doing here? In this talk Heather will invite you to realize that purpose isn’t something you wait for, purpose is something you can live out right now.

Making Scripture Meaningful

By Robin Brown

We know that scripture is important, but how do we make it part of our daily quiet-time in a way that moves it beyond just acquiring more head-knowledge? Scripture is God’s Word to us yesterday, today, and tomorrow. In this breakout we will explore a variety of methods of incorporating scripture into our devotional time in ways that are personally rewarding and more meaningful to our life today.

Lessons From Flowers

There are delightful deep life lessons to be foraged in the flower garden. Tho we are exiled from the Garden of Eden our hearts still find joy and delight in bud and blossom. We are grateful God spared a multitude of those precious wanderers from Eden for our enjoyment and edification as we cultivate character for Heaven and Eden restored.

Michele Davis — Main Speaker (Sunday)

We are all oļ¬€ered an apprenticeship with Jesus, learning to go where he leads and do what he asks. Sometimes those promptings can be out of our comfort zone, but just on the other side is a wonderful taste of the abundant life! Join Michele as she recounts some of the experiences she has had serving in India learning to say “Yes” to the adventures Jesus has in store. Michele and her husband, Weston, recently spent a span of five years in India working for a humanitarian organization called ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency). While in India Michele worked with street children, orphanages, and eventually in human traļ¬ƒcking. Both their experiences not only radically broadened their minds but also taught them to live open to the incredible passion and love of Jesus for people everywhere. Michele and Weston have returned to Spokane, Washington, and have five children and five grandchildren. Michele works as an artist, painting mainly figures and portraits in oil. Her religious-themed paintings hang in schools, churches, hospitals and institutions around the country. She and her husband love the outdoors, biking and adventuring whenever they can.
