Since the fires began in Southern California on January 7, Adventists across the country have leapt into action to provide immediate relief to victims in need of food, water, shelter, and other needed supplies.
Those further away, such as Adventists in the Upper Columbia Conference, have contributed to wildfire victims through financial support.
FÄVS News (formerly Spokane Faith and Values) published a story on January 22, 2025, highlighting how faith communities in the Spokane area are providing aid in response to the Southern California wildfires. Reporter Cassy Benefield interviewed several religious organizations in the Spokane region for the story.
Patty Marsh, UCC director of Adventist Community Services/Disaster Response, was also contacted for comment on the article.
“No organization can do everything, but as faith-based organizations, we should do something,” said Marsh.
