Prayer Makes 180 Turnaround on a Guided Missile Cruiser

Each day Korter walked the ship and prayed for the 355 crew members.

Pastor Brandon Korter is not only pastor of the East Wenatchee and Leavenworth Seventh-day Adventist Churches, but he is also a Chaplain holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the Navy Reserve. As such he was called to serve for three months as Command Chaplain onboard and deployed on a Guided Missile Cruiser. When Pastor Korter asked why they called him up for this assignment, United States Fleet Forces Command told him that he was desperately needed because the ship had a spiritual problem.

Praying before he arrived, Pastor Korter felt impressed by the Holy Spirit that this was no ordinary spiritual problem but a problem with the occult. So, in preparation for this deployment, he spent time in advance praying for the armor of God and praying under the authority of Jesus that God’s Holy Spirit would help him.

He was flown to and landed on an aircraft carrier underway. He was then transported by helicopter to the Guided Missile Cruiser that was also deployed underway with the aircraft carrier. Within five minutes of landing on the ship, he was enemy number one to an officer onboard who was involved in the occult. Pastor Korter was greeted by this officer with an evil sneer. This officer was not the only one. Many onboard were involved. Pastor Korter knew that God was confirming that he was indeed needed onboard this ship to serve as a Chaplain who understood spiritual warfare.

Each day Pastor Korter walked the ship, interacted, and prayed with various crew members, while praying continually for the 355 souls onboard the ship. He let them know by email, a friendly smile, and warm personal engagement that he was praying for them. For three months this was his daily routine. The first thing in the morning he would pray for covering with the armor of God. He began to see an attitude change. He was soon greeted with, “Hi, Chaps!” The ships entire crew began interacting with him more and more.

When he finished his time onboard, a high-ranking officer from the ship and officers from United States Fleet Forces Command communicated to him that there had been a miracle on the ship. These same high-ranking officers also reported to the Pentagon that there had been a 180-degree turnaround in attitude and morale on the ship!

Pastor Korter served on the Guided Missile Cruiser from August through October of 2022.

In telling this story, he is humbled by what happened and knows that it had only to do with the Power of God! He knows he was able to pray against the devil under the power and authority of Jesus! Pastor Korter says that every single follower of Jesus should know that there are conditions where we all have this ability!

God answers the prayers of his people if they are willing to:

1. Ask for forgiveness of hanging on to sin. Ask God to reveal if you are dabbling in something you don’t realize is permeated by the occult. Ask for forgiveness and turn away from whatever God reveals.

2. Ask God to help you forgive others, let go of grudges, and let go of being right all the time.

3. Ask God to forgive you of holding a critical spirit against people and leaders in God’s Church, or any entity that seeks to lead people to Jesus. God will deliver you from a proud spirit and will help you to be willing to apologize.

One person can make a 180-degree difference when they pray under the authority of Jesus name, by His blood, and put on the armor of God!
