Departments

    Our Purpose:

The purpose of the UCC Communications department is to support the mission of Upper Columbia Conference and to provide communication consultation and resources to our local churches and schools, support our conference office team members, and provide relevant information to the public.

    We do this through:

    Media Inquiries & Public Relations

Public communication can be tricky, especially when a crisis is involved. We help talk through the options, bring in legal counsel (if necessary), and develop a consistent message and crisis plan. Our churches and schools don’t have to face a crisis alone.

    Consultation

We are available to talk through solutions to communication issues in churches and schools. This ranges from developing a communications strategy for general promotion of churches and schools, to event planning, to avoiding public relations pitfalls.

    Copyright Issues

Copyright violations can negatively impact the mission of any church or school. We help churches and schools navigate the often-confusing issues surrounding copyright.

Graphic Standards, Layout & Design Assistance

We assist churches and schools with correct logo usage, letterhead, envelopes and business cards. Church signage is another area that we can help churches stay consistent with the global church standards.

    Photography & Video Assistance

We have a portrait photography studio at the conference office that is available for church or school usage. Our video studio is also available. We are able to record at up to 6k resolution with a number of studio sets available, depending on needs.

    Radio & Television Ministry Assistance

We provide counsel and assistance (along with a lawyer that specializes in media law) for radio and TV ministries in our conference with the goal to help spread the message of Christ to local communities.

    News, Stories, and Announcements

We gather stories and news from all over the conference for the NPUC’s Gleaner, the weekly Northwest Adventists newsletter, the weekly Upper Columbian newsletter, and conference social media accounts.

    Website Management

We help create websites for every church and school in the conference. We are available to train church members or school staff to build and maintain this important information source.

    Social Media Training

Social media is extremely important in reaching the local community and keeping church members and schools connected. We are available to train churches and schools in how to develop social media accounts, best practices, and how to respond during challenging situations.
