SPOKANE, Wash., December 6, 2016 – At the recent Upper Columbia Conference Executive Committee, Richie Brower was voted to be the associate director of Youth and Family Life for Upper Columbia Conference. Richie comes with years of experience in Family Life ministries and a love for Pathfinder and Youth ministry. He graduated from Walla Walla University with a bachelor’s degree in Theology in 1995 and attended Andrews University from 1996-1999 to study for his M.Div.
Richie and his wife, Timari, have three sons, Caleb, age 11, Micah, age 7 and Levi, age 4. They most recently have been traveling across the United States encouraging couples and strengthening marriages. Their ministry, Elijah Now, began in 2009 and has been instrumental in helping couples find the courage to believe that God can bring their marriages back to God’s original design. Richie has served as the chaplain of a local Christian radio station since 2004. He has a wealth of experience working with young people as pastor of six churches, camp director in Alaska, youth pastor and curriculum development at the Center for Youth Evangelism. His wife and children are top on his list of interests, which also includes, backpacking, leadership, camping, gardening, canoeing, snowshoeing, woodworking and online communication.
Pastor Brower joins Jeff Wines, director of the Youth and Family Life Department. “I’m really excited Richie is joining the leadership team in UCC and in the Youth and Family Life Department. I’m excited about how we will be able to work together in ministry,” says Wines. “We will collaborate as much as possible. Pastor Brower will be primarily responsible for Pathfinders, Adventurers and Family Life and we will work together with youth ministry. Upper Columbia Conference is near and dear to Brower as during his college years he served as staff at Camp MiVoden and as a taskforce worker for two years in the UCC Youth Department.
