Rogers Mourns Student Loss

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash., 3/21/2015 - Students and families at Rogers Adventist School in College Place, WA are mourning the loss of, Fisher Schroeder, an 8th grader who died Thursday night in a car crash south of La Grande, Oregon.

Families and friends who knew Fisher remember him as a kind, considerate classmate and friend who looked out for others. Many took to social media Friday after hearing the news, posting anecdotes and memories. 

Fisher was a passenger with two other youths and an adult in a 2000 Ford Excursion driven by his father, Todd Schroeder.

The adult passenger, whom Oregon State Patrol identified as Jerry Schroeder, also of Milton-Freewater, was flown to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries.

Todd Schroeder and two other juvenile passengers, whose names were not released, suffered minor injuries and were treated at Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande.

According to preliminary information, OSP said the SUV was pulling a travel trailer and heading into Ladd Canyon when it rolled into the center median. The cause of the crash and information about safety belt use remains under investigation, OSP said.
