SPOKANE, Wash., May 8, 2010 -Palisades Christian Academy (PCA) lost both of their buses in an electrical fire Saturday morning, May 8, 2010.

The local fire department received calls at 5:17 a.m. from drivers passing by who reported that both busses were in flames. Within thirty minutes, fire crews were able to extinguish the flames.

Fire department personnel remained on the scene for several hours to prevent flare-ups and search for clues to the cause of the fire. Before leaving, the fire department determined that the fire originated in the white bus on the drivers’ side in one of the electrical panels. The specific cause of the fire is undetermined.

Kathy Stratte, PCA secretary, said "We're just thankful no one was hurt in the fire and that it didn't happen on a school day."

PCA recently experienced theft and parked the buses close together in an effort to prevent access to the bus batteries. When white bus caught flame, it was only a short time before the blue bus sustained heavy damage also.
